Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) head coach, Tom Moody recently expressed his excitement at having a ‘dangerous’ top-order player, Wriddhiman Saha in their ranks, as Shikhar Dhawan’s opening partner.
Although Saha failed to make a mark in the first game, Moody said they would continue with Saha in the opening slot. Moreover, Saha got out scoring only five runs while playing a lofted drive over mid-off.
“We feel he is a very dangerous top-order player. Not only is he comfortably the best ‘keeper in the country but we feel at the top of the order in T20 cricket his record is good. He is a good right-hand option for us as an impact player up front,” Moody told media.
Meanwhile, the Sunrisers started the tournament with a bang, beating Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets. However, Moody admitted they are likely to make few changes going against Mumbai Indians.
“We are looking at a couple of options, yes, but we are reluctant to make too many changes for obvious reasons. We would also like to make sure that we have got the right match-ups for the game against Mumbai,” he added.
The pitch during SRH’s first game saw the visiting team struggle to score runs. However, the host cruised passed the target with nine wickets in hand. SRH’s coach expects similar kind of wickets for the game against Mumbai.
“The wicket in the first game was excellent, (it) had good pace and carry, and plenty of runs. I would imagine tomorrow’s wicket (against Mumbai Indians) to be pretty much the same. It is a good contest between the bat and the ball when it is like that,” Moody concluded.
Meanwhile, the Sunrisers will host Mumbai Indians later today.
