IPL 2019: 3 Players Mumbai Indians Might Release Ahead of Next Auction
Three-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians are all set to win their 4th IPL title after going through to the final of Vivo IPL 12 after defeating Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 1 quite convincingly in the end. Mumbai Indians played some exceptional brand of cricket this season and will definitely look to secure their 4th IPL title.
Over the years, Mumbai Indians has been the most consistent team of the tournament along with Chennai Super Kings. MI has played with more or less the same combination making a few changes in some of the matches according to the condition.
There have been a few players for Mumbai Indians who have warmed the benches through the course of the season. The potential champions might opt to release a few players ahead of the 2020 IPL.
Now let us have a look at 3 players who MI might release ahead of the IPL auction next year.
The youngster has been a wasted talent in Mumbai Indians, to say the least. Despite being with the team for the last 7 years, he made his debut only this year and that has been his only match for Mumbai Indians in his IPL career so far.
Had he been in any other team, Lad should have at least played 15-20 IPL matches. He is a special talent and has the ability to hit the big shots on a consistent basis. Mumbai Indians might leave him next year as he hasn’t been used by the team management. Instead, if MI releases him, he might get a better contract and get his IPL career underway.
The leg-spinner was the pick of the MI spinners last season. However, he has been nowhere close to his best in the limited opportunities he has got so far. Rahul Chahar has cashed in on his opportunity when Markande was injured and the latter hasn’t managed to get his place back in the XI.
With so many quality spinners around, MI might release Markande ahead of the auctions next year. The young leggie has lacked the venom in his last few outings and hasn’t managed to turn the ball the way he did during the earlier parts of the tournament last year.
Tare has been with the Mumbai Indians for a long time. However, the emergence of a young Ishan Kishan has meant that Aditya Tare had to warm the benches for the major part of the last season. This year MI has already acquired the services of Quinton de Kock who has been a regular feature in the MI Playing XI.
He has been the first choice wicket-keeper with Ishan Kishan playing as a premier batsman in few of those matches. Hence these are the first two wicket-keepers MI has gone for. So I feel there is no need for a 3rd wicket-keeper in the team. In case of an emergency, a replacement can be available anytime.
