IPL 2019: All-Rounder Marcus Stoinis to Join Royal Challengers Bangalore
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) once again got off to the worst start to this edition of the IPL. They have lost the first three games of the season and as a result, found themselves at the bottom of the table. They will look to make a turnaround when they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 2 (Tuesday).
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) began their campaign with a massive defeat against defending champions Chennai Super Kings. Playing at Chennai, they were all out at 70 runs before Chennai Super Kings chased down the target with seven wickets in hand. Only Parthiv Patel managed to cross the single-digit figure as Harbhajan Singh, and Imran Tahir ran down their batting order.
Meanwhile, the second game went much closer after valiant efforts from AB de Villiers. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers combined well to almost chase down 187 runs set by Mumbai Indians. But a brilliant display of death over bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga helped Mumbai to defend the target and beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six runs.
Virat Kohli & Co didn’t take any learning from their past defeats as they registered their third consecutive defeats, this time against Sunrisers Hyderabad. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow combined well scoring individual hundreds to post 231 runs at the end of the 20 overs. In pursuit, Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a good opening start, but Mohammad Nabi single-handedly broke the backbone with four wickets at the top. Since then, they were in no line to chase down the massive target.
Bangalore desperate for a turnaround
However, they will receive a massive as Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is all set to join the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore camp. He was with the Australia team who played a five-match ODI series against Pakistan at the United Arab Emirates. Although he didn’t impress much, Stoinis did an excellent job in the previous series against India. He did a fair job with both bat and ball and will look to continue doing that and change the fortunes for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Bangalore have struggled for a good opening start, and the Australian all-rounder can help them solve their problem. The franchise will badly want him to be in fine form and help them return to winning ways.
