IPL 2019: Both Teams Fought Really Well – Dinesh Karthik
It was a tough day at the office for Kolkata Knight Riders in their first away game. They have been outsmarted by the young Prithvi Shaw, who displayed a top-class knock at Feroz Shah Kotla. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik lauds the youngster and feels it was one of those thrilling games of cricket.
Initially, it was Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik who kept fans on edge of their seats while in the second innings, it was a stunning show from the young Prithvi Shaw, who rocked the stage. He was helped by Shreyas Iyer during the course of the chase.
After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals got off to a perfect start with Sandeep Lamichchanne bagging an early wicket for the team. It was followed by the wickets of Robin Uthappa, Chris Lynn and Nitish Rana, which made things look bleak for KKR.
The blitz by Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell’s stroke-filled 62-run knock helped Kolkata Knight Riders to post a competitive tally of 185 runs on the board. In reply, Shikhar Dhawan started his innings in a flash by knocking 16 runs off 7 balls. However, he couldn’t quite carry on, as he mistimed a shot to Andre Russell.
In between, Prithvi Shaw continued his stellar form in the middle to keep Delhi Capitals very much in the chase. Shaw showed his class and proved what he is capable of doing for the team on his day. In the end, it was Kagiso Rabada, who sealed the deal.
It was a tipsy-turvy Kinda game – Dinesh Karthik
Speaking of the loss, Dinesh Karthik quoted that the decision to bowl with Prasidh Krishna was a straight-forwarded one, as he was their regular contributor. Further, he felt that it was a tightly-contested game for both the sides, where Delhi came on top.
”I think it was a great game, both teams fought pretty well. It went to the Super over and they came out on top. I think Prasidh has been bowling consistently for us at the death, it was a straight forward decision to make. And I think he bowled really well. He has been bowling the tough overs, so we need to back him. It was a topsy-turvy kinda game,” he said.
All in all, as Dinesh Karthik said, it was a tough day with the ball but there are quite a few positives to take into a count for Kolkata Knight Riders. Now, they will have a good break before taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore.
