Chennai Super Kings makes it 2 in 2 in the Indian Premier League 2019. The heroics of Dwayne Bravo with the ball and the collective batting effort helped the defending champions bag two consecutive victories in the tournament. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni speaks in the post-match presentation.
The win helped Chennai to seal the top place in the points table with 4 points in their kitty. Now, they will have a good break before returning back to the action on Sunday facing Rajasthan Royals back home.
Initially, Delhi Capitals started things pretty well by scoring runs pretty quickly. However, they lost their way in the middle when Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram walked back in the same over, which saw a complete change in the scenario.
In reply, Shane Watson and Suresh Raina garnered runs at a quick rate after losing Ambati Rayudu early in the innings. After Watson losing his wicket, Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni finished things by taking the game to the final over of the innings.
”The wicket turned more than expected in the firt innings. In the second innings, there was enough dew. The bowlers did well to restrict them to 150. The batsmen we have like a bit of pace, and like it to come on to the bat,” MS Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.
Losing Lungi Ngidi Was A Big Blow – MS Dhoni:
MS Dhoni quoted that losing a class bowler like Lungi Ngidi was a big blow for the team. However, he believes that the team covered all their bases with quality players.
”Losing Ngidi at the start was a big blow, because he was the quickest, but other than that we were well-covered in all the areas,” he said.
We will be a safe fielding side:
MS Dhoni accepts the fact that their team can’t be a good fielding side but he feels that they can be the safe fielding side. He went to say that there are few areas that need to be worked on as the tournament progress.
”I don’t think we will be a very good fielding side, but we will be a safe fielding side. You don’t want the XI to push too hard and get injured. We might bleed a few runs and make up for that with experience. We haven’t done well at the death, so plenty of areas to work on, but still a good victory,” he inferred.
All in all, it has been a fine display by Chennai Super Kings at Feroz Shah Kotla. They would like to repeat the show in their second home game as well when Rajasthan Royals visits their venue.
