IPL 2019: Chris Lynn Helps Kolkata Knight Riders To 152, Twitter Reacts
Apr 21, 2019 at 5:47 PM
It was Chris Lynn, who played pretty unlike him to hand a respectable total on the board for Kolkata Knight Riders. The brilliant bowling effort from Khaleel Ahmed followed by the exceptional support from the other bowlers, in the end, helped them to sit on a driver seat.
Initially, it was Kane Williamson, who won the toss, elected to bowl first. They haven’t got the right kind of start, as Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn went berserk in the first couple of overs. Narine was the wrecker-in-chief for KKR before Khaleel Ahmed cleaned him up with a brilliant slower delivery.
He was quickly followed by Shubman Gill, who got the number 3 position in absence of Robin Uthappa. It was also the second wicket for Khaleel Ahmed in the match. The vows further stretched when Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Nitish Rana.
The things moved from bad to worse when Dinesh Karthik returned back in the mode of run-out. Just when things looked drifting away for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rinku Singh played a brilliant hand for KKR. On the other hand, Chris Lynn also took the onus on him by playing a pretty much run-a-ball knock.
After adding 51 runs for the 5th wicket, Rinku Singh walked back in search of some quick runs in the death. He managed to get a six but found Rashid in the deep when trying to repeat the show. In between, the wicket of Rinku welcomed Andre Russell to the middle, something, which KKR fans are praying, as it was the slogging time.
Foir Sunrisers Hyderabad, all the bowlers did well in the initial phase of the innings but the slow knock from Chris Lynn, which was beautifully helped by the other batsman around his changed the complexion of the game. In the end, they managed to score 152 on the board with the help of Russell’s cameo.
Here are a few tweets:
Meanwhile, Andre Russell must have been kicking himself in the dressing room. He had made a statement after the previous match that he should have been sent earlier. That message hasn't yet been delivered to Dinesh Karthik. #IPL2019 #SRHvsKKR

Russell walks in. Finally. Kane has kept two off Rashid. Mouthwatering prospect ☺️🤗 https://t.co/PD6Ef518ei

Kane Williamson is one of my favourite captains….very very smart. #SRHvKKR #IPL

13th over, no Russell yet. So what do the incumbent batsmen do? With every ball, they are giving Russell less time but surely they can't throw it away for him either. Why doesn't he just bat at no 6?

Best player of kkr Russel playing lower order. A bit slap to kkr management #SRHvKKR

Having said that, that was very sensible from Bhuvi to bowl at his pads…he has actually given the blueprint of how to stop DreRus #SRHvKKR

Just watching the IPL on @FOXSports. Can’t understand why KKR have the master blaster Andre Russell batting at number 7. What a waste.

Forget the ball, first of all Andre Russell should hit Piyush Chawla out of the ground from his bat.#SRHvKKR

KKR and SRH game plan for today. Get Warner and Johnny out and win the game and for SRH the game plan is just don't take any wickets so Russell can't bat 😜 @ipl #SRHvKKR @bbctms

Andre Russell played nine innings in this season and smashed minimum one six in every innings… 🔥

Andre Russell's pull/hook against pace is a remarkable shot. He is essentially playing it off his front foot and that transfer of weight into the ball creates huge power. He's taken the pull shots of KP & Punter and turned up the aggression another level. #IPL #SRHvKKR
