There’s a famous saying in cricket that: ‘catches win you matches’. It has often held its importance. We’ve witnessed some excellent catches on the field apart from players messing up with most straightforward of the catches. Similarly, in the recently-held game of the ongoing IPL 2019 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), saw Suryakumar Yadav claiming a stunning low catch of Murali Vijay while diving forward at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

Such catches have often become a focal point of multiple debates. The doubts rose whether fielder’s fingers are underneath the ball or has it bounced before the fielder could complete a clean catch. In such circumstances, it gets harder for officials–to please the competing teams.

Well, the incident unfolded on the fourth delivery of 12th over bowled by prominent bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Vijay, who was playing his first game, looked solid in the middle before opting for a half-hearted cut shot which saw Suryakumar taking a catch inches above from the ground.

However, the soft signal from on-field umpire Nigel Llong was out before going upstairs to check whether the catch was clean or not.

Earlier, CSK struggled at 60 for five in 10 overs.

In between, the front-on angle seemingly revealed the ball has bumped off the ground before settling into the palms.

Meanwhile, the side on angle made it look the ball had settled into the bucket-like hands of Suryakumar.

No evidence to rule out the on-field decision:

With nothing more conclusive evidence on offer to overturn the decision, third umpire Vineet Kulkarni has stayed with the on-field decision.

As soon as the giant screen flashed out, the CSK dugout wore a deserted look. Vijay, who was the top scorer for his side managed 35-ball 38. His innings was laced with three fours and one six.

Earlier, Indians batted first, they posted 155 for four in 20 overs following a fine half-century from skipper Rohit Sharma.

But in response, CSK in the absence of MS Dhoni has struggled in the batting department. Indians rattled hosts at 109 only to clinch 46-run victory.
