IPL 2019: Dale Steyn Speaks on Signing A Deal For Royal Challengers Bangalore

Out of nowhere, Dale Steyn has landed in the Indian Premier League 2019 at the crunch situation for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They need to play out of their skins and hope for a few results to go in their way to land in playoffs. Meanwhile, he attended a press conference to express his opinion on joining the Virat Kohli-led side.

So far, it has been a dismal run of form for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2019. They failed to taste success on seven occasions in the tournament so far. In between, Virat Kohli-led side got the boost in the form of Dale Steyn.

I was preparing for the world cup – Dale Steyn

Speaking of the selection, Dale Steyn revealed that he was contacted by Gary Kirsten, who is the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore. He queried Steyn regarding his bowling in the T20 tournaments and his fitness at the moment.

To which, Dale Steyn replied that he is very much in the nick, as he is preparing himself to be the part of a local tournament for ICC World Cup 2019 preparation. In the end, everything went well, which landed him in India.

“He [coach Gary Kirsten] asked me to have I been playing? have I been bowling? and I said yes. I was actually prepping to play our local T20 tournament. It can sometimes be difficult coming halfway through the IPL and the World Cup coming up, but we got through it, and here I am,” Dale Steyn said.

I just love playing cricket –

Initially, Dale Steyn was ignored in the IPL auction for 2019 edition. Speaking of the same, Steyn quoted that he won’t take anything to heart, as things like those are something, which doesn’t hurt him. He highlighted the fact that the plans of franchises might not go in his favour.

“I wasn’t originally picked up for the IPL, but that’s totally okay. Coaches have plans and structures, and if you’re not in those plans you shouldn’t take it personally. It’s nothing personal, it’s business. But to be honest with you, I just love playing cricket,” he added in press conference.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Dale Steyn in IPL. He would look to deliver goods for the team in order to push his IPL career even further. As far as IPL preparation is concerned, Steyn can’t get a better platform than the IPL stage.
