IPL 2019 Match Review: Delhi Capitals innings:
Delhi Capitals didn’t get off to an ideal start to their run-chase. There was a misunderstanding between Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw and the latter had to pay the price. However, experienced batter Shikhar Dhawan and captain Shreyas Iyer added a good alliance of 92 runs for the second wicket partnership.
Dhawan got off to quick start and then batted with sense when the fielding restricting were lifted. The southpaw rotated the balls in the gaps to pick up his singles whereas Shreyas Iyer was able to hit the ground running.
Dhawan was able to complete his 35th IPL fifty and brought his third IPL fifty of the ongoing season. The southpaw batsmen batted at the top of his game as he made most of his experience.
Moreover, Rishabh Pant once again didn’t play according to match situations. The left-hander went for the big heave when only 36 runs were needed off 30 balls.
IPL 2019 Match Review: Kings XI Punjab innings.
The visitors didn’t get off to a great start as they lost the big wicket of KL Rahul. The right-hander back leg was on the crease and Rishabh Pant did a fine job to get rid of the bails. Subsequently, Mayank Agarwal soon followed his Karnataka teammate as he made the mistake of taking on Kagiso Rabada.
Kings XI Punjab’s start turned out to be worse from bad when they lost another wicket in David Miller. The southpaw dismal form continued in the IPL as he could not time the ball against Axar Patel despite using his feet and getting to the pitch of the ball.
However, Chris Gayle kept the Punjab team in the game. The Universe Boss batted according to the match situations and catapulted his attack against the bad balls. The combative southpaw scored a blistering knock of 69 runs off just 37 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes. Gayle’s innings was put paid by a brilliant effort from Colin Ingram, at mid-wicket position. The southpaw batsman relayed the throw to Axar Patel who was 27 metres away at long-on.
Mandeep Singh looked good for his knock of 30 runs as he scored his runs from 27 balls with the help of one four and one six. Furthermore, Harpreet Brar, who was playing his debut match impressed with the bat as he provided the finishing touches.
On the other hand, Sandeep Lamichanne made most of the spin-friendly wicket as he scalped three wickets and gave away 40 runs in his four overs quota. Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel scalped two wickets each in the first innings. Consequently, Punjab was able to add 163 runs on the board.
