Delhi Capitals (DC) have made a solid comeback in this edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and are currently find themselves in the second spot with 10 points after Chennai Super Kings. They will look to pocket another crucial two points when they face Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 18 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. However, ahead of the crucial tie against Mumbai, Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury.

The franchise who made an array of changes going into this edition had a woeful start to this edition after winning the first game. However, they have picked the pace at the right moment ahead of the business end of the tournament.  While Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 97 against Kolkata Knight Riders came as a welcome return to form for the southpaw, his partner Prithvi Shaw is yet to cross fifty in five innings since his 99 against Kolkata at home. Prithvi had an extensive chat session with advisor Sourav Ganguly on the eve of the match day.

Massive blow for Delhi Capitals

Meanwhile, all eyes will be gazing on Rishabh Pant who failed to make the cut for the World Cup. The young wicket-keeper will hope to shut down the selectors with a dazzling knock at his home ground. BCCI; however, have named Pant among the standbys for the World Cup alongside Ambati Rayudu and Navdeep Saini. The Delhi Capitals bowling have also looked good with Kagiso Rabada leading the pack from the front. Chris Morris and Ishant Sharma have provided good support and will be keen to keep up the good work and make it 2-0 against Mumbai Indians in this season.

Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury on his right arm during training on the eve of the clash. Iyer has led from the front and has been the team’s leading run-getter in the tournament with 266 runs at an average of 33.25.

However, there has not been any official update given on the extent of his injury, and it looks like Shreyas Iyer will take part in the outing against Mumbai Indians.
