IPL 2019: Dinesh Karthik And Co Chose Mumbai To Practice Ahead Of Eden Gardens
In one of those surprising moves, a few Kolkata Players visited their camp in Mumbai to hit the net sessions rather than choosing their own den, Eden Gardens. However, the clear idea behind the move hasn’t yet revealed. Meanwhile, few players hesitated to travel while the likes of Dinesh Karthik and a few others took the move.
Usually, cricketers won’t choose travelling to another city for a practice session, as it would take a toll on their bodies. However, a few of the cricketers travelled to Mumbai to get their practice done for the next game.
They could get better practice in Mumbai:
Kolkata Knight Riders got four games left in their kitty. In the next assignment, they will take on the Rajasthan Royals, which will be played at Eden Gardens. Despite playing at home, they chose to travel to Mumbai and then take a return flight to attend the match at Eden Gardens.
“they could get a better practice session in Mumbai”, as per the statement from the team management. Interestingly, the management also said that the team has been given some time off to regroup ahead of the next match.
Meanwhile, the key player of the team Andre Russell headed back to Kolkata to get his practice done at Eden Gardens. Dinesh Karthik-led Kolkata Knight Riders will head into the game against Rajasthan Royals with five losses on their back. The loss against SRH would have hurt their confidence as well.
Every team has the right to do what they want:
In between, one of the franchises’ official said that it was a surprising move from KKR players. However, he believes that there is no right for any other individual to comment on that, as it might help them in the tournament going ahead.
“Well, generally considering the format of the IPL and the travel involved, people generally like to rest whenever they can rather than flying down to another city to train for a couple of days. This actually makes it harsh on the bodies of the players. But then, nobody else can decide for them. Every team has the right to do what they feel is best,” the official said to IANS.
All in all, it is an interesting move from Kolkata Knight Riders. Perhaps, the KKR team is pretty focussed on the games against Mumbai Indians, as they need to face them twice in their remaining 4 games. In order to beat Rohit Sharma-led side in Mumbai, KKR is trying to get used to the surface.
