IPL 2019: Executed Our Plans Very Well – Andre Russell After Match-Winning Knock
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell has been in excellent form right from the start of this Indian Premier League (IPL). He once again played a match-winning knock of 80 runs from just 40 deliveries against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens to help his post a massive total. Russell said they kept their heads calm cool and executed their plans well last night.
Meanwhile, Chris Lynn and Shubman Gill got Kolkata Knight Riders off to a flying start. They added 96 runs off the first wicket before Andre Russell walked out in the middle. With time to settle in, the big Jamaican got his eyes in before swinging his arms hard at the balls. He went hard in the last few overs as Kolkata posted 232 runs at the end of 20 overs. His unbeaten knock of 80 runs included eight massive sixes and six fours to entertain the Eden Gardens crowd.
Andre Russell seemed satisfied with the hand-eye coordination, and the balance is essential. He also spoke about how keeping his full body fit plays a significant role in his knock. He also admitted that he needs to generate a lot of power from the shoulders and core to play those big shots and admitted that he is happy with the superhero tag.
“If the fans say that I am a (superhero) I am happy. Hand-eye co-ordination, a good bat speed and balance is important. I generate a lot of power from the shoulders and core. Everything works together. You need to make sure your body is fit and strong in order to play those upward shots in those moments,” Russell said at the end of the game.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have kept themselves alive in the tournament following their win over Mumbai Indians. Andre Russell is hopeful of winning the next two games and gives themselves an outside chance to qualify for the playoff stage.
Russell and admitted that it was one of his best T20 days and 230 was a good score. In conclusion, the Windies all-rounder said that they kept their heads calm and executed their plans well.
“We have given ourselves a chance. Hopefully, the result in the next two games goes our way. One of my best T20 days, definitely. We needed to get 200-plus but getting 230 was just enough. If it was just over 200 we would have been on the losing end. We kept our heads calm under pressure and executed our plans well,” he concluded.
