IPL 2019: Feroz Shah Kotla is a Happy Hunting Ground for Me – Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian National Cricket team skipper Sourav Ganguly will work with Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the capacity of an advisor. Delhi, who will play their home games in Feroz Shah Kotla has been a happy hunting ground Ganguly, who aims bring some glory for his franchise.
Meanwhile, Ganguly has already joined the camp and is taking part in their training session. Moreover, he will also travel with the side in the away game. He will work with former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting – head coach of Delhi Capitals, to end their barren run in the tournament. Ganguly’s inclusion comes at the last moment and he will try to give all his inputs to strike a balance in the team.
Speaking about his feeling in joining the team, Sourav Ganguly said it feels great to join the franchise. The Capitals have undergone a few changes in a bid to bring back luck to their side. The former cricketer also noted that this is an excellent side with quality youngsters who have gained experience and have got better. Hence, Ganguly is hoping some positive result by the end of the season.
“It’s great o be a part of this team. It’s a new team, with a new name. A team with fantastic young players, who have actually gotten better. So looking forward to this season, Ganguly said.
Happy hunting ground
Besides, Sourav Ganguly also pointed out that Feroz Shah Kotla has been a special ground for him. The former cricketer has played many games in this ground. Ganguly boasts a strong record in the ground in both Tests and ODIs. He has 582 runs from seven Tests at an average of 58.20 including a century while he has scored 189 runs from three ODIs at an average of 63. Meanwhile, the southpaw has scored many centuries in his domestic career.
However, Ganguly is keen on making it even more special by the end of the season. Sourav Ganguly admits that it will be the most important memory for him in the next few months if they progress to the knockout stages.
“Lot of memories! With so many Test matches, with so many one-dayers. It’s been a happy hunting ground for me with lots of hundreds. It’ll be even better if we qualify this season. It’s going to be the most important memory in a couple of month’s time,” Ganguly added.
Delhi Capitals will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 24 at the Wankhede Stadium.
