Gautam Gambhir helped me – Kuldeep Yadav
It’s been six years for Kuldeep Yadav with Kolkata Knight Riders. Initially, he wasn’t that effective bowler but in quick time, he learnt a lot under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.
Speaking of the same, the left-handed bowler quoted that Gambhir and the player-turned-coach Jacques Kallis has played a big role in shaping his career. He owed his success to Gautam Gambhir for supporting him during crunch situations of his career.
“It has been 6 years now that I have been with Kolkata Knight Riders and they are like family to me. Everyone supports each other in the bunch. When I joined, Gautam Gambhir was the captain and Jacques Kallis was a senior player and continues to be our coach and I learnt a lot from them. Gauti bhai always motivated and supported me and always pushed me to reach the next level,” Kuldeep Yadav said.
I wanted to become a bowler like Shane Warne:
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the chinaman bowler quoted that the head coach Ravi Shastri has helped him to meet Shane Warne on the first day of the Australian tour. Later, Kuldeep Yadav managed to get the tricks and tips from the stalwart player on a regular basis.
“I watched him bowl in the 2005 Ashes series and from that day I wanted to become a bowler like him. He became my idol. When I went to Australia he helped me with a lot of tips. Ravi (Shastri) sir and Bharat Arun sir helped me understand what Warne was trying to convey to me. Every morning he came up with new ideas and helped me become stronger mentally and in terms of cricket skills,” he said.
Well, it is pleasing to hear that Shane Warne has helped Kuldeep Yadav in making things fall in place. Now, Kuldeep Yadav is a senior player of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ franchise. They are being led by Dinesh Karthik.
