IPL 2019: I See Myself As A Leader – KKR’s Carlos Brathwaite

The 2019 edition of Indian Premier League is all about the Windies players, as they have been taking the centre stage more often than not. KKR got two such players with Sunil Narine and Andre Russell in the playing XI. But, unfortunately, they are failing to make use of Carlos Brathwaite, who can win matches for the team on his day.

Before heading into the IPL, Carlos is the skipper of Windies T20I cricket team. He has delivered goods for his international team with his all-around ability and captaincy skills. Meanwhile, he speaks on the leadership group of KKR.

I try to lend my expertise – Carlos Brathwaite

Speaking of the same, Carlos Brathwaite believes that there is no need of any tags in order to express the opinions out for the team. He also revealed that there is no such leadership groups in the team, which made things easy for the team.

“I guess we don’t have a leadership group per se. If you’re a leader by nature, it will show in whatever you say, whatever you do, how you say things and how you do it. So my mannerisms will be the same, regardless of which team I play for,” Brathwaite told reporters.

“I’ve been speaking in team meetings, been speaking to the coach, to the captain, to the manager and I think the leader is natural. It’s something that happens. I see myself as one and don’t know how the world sees it, but where I can share my knowledge. I try to lend my expertise wherever I can,” the 30-year old said.

As a team, we failed to put a better show – Carlos Brathwaite

The Windies player quoted that the whole team has failed collectively to make things fall in place. Carlos doesn’t want to point out any special departtment of the team, which failed to deliver. Bowling or batting, Carlos Brathwaite feels that team failed to deliver goods collectively.

However, he is sure enough that they can turn tables for the team in the remaining matches. He wants every member of the team to put their best show in the middle in order to win the remaining crucial matches for the team.

“I just don’t want to single out the bowling unit, because as a team we haven’t played cricket collectively. The bowlers have been putting their hands up and trying to do their level best every time but the batsmen haven’t scored enough runs to give the bowlers the cushion. So I think as a team we just need to butt heads together. We had a nice little break have come back refreshed,” he said.

Well, it would be interesting to see how they approach the remaining games in the tournament. In the next assignment, they will take on Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens and then a couple of games against Mumbai Indians.
