It wasn’t a great debut as a captain for Bhuvneshwar Kumar in Indian Premier League. Everything looked going well for Sunrisers Hyderabad but then came the knock from Andre Russell, which completely changed the complexion of the game. Meanwhile, Kumar lauds Russell.
Chasing a big total, Kolkata Knight Riders lost the rhythm in the middle overs after the wicket of Robin Utthapa. In between, Nitish Rana continued his mojo but failed to stay till the end of the game.
Despite that, Andre Russell showed his character in the middle. He smashed the best bowling lineup to all corners of the park to smatch a victory out of nowhere.

It was a good game of cricket – Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Speaking of the game, the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar quoted that it would be always tough to win a game when a player like Andre Russell is on a song. He also admitted that they failed to execute their plans in the middle.
“It was a good game of cricket. If you can’t get Russell out, he can take away the game from you. We were looking for wickets but couldn’t execute the things. “ Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in the post-match Presentation.
Further, he went on to add saying that the games like those would help the come good in upcoming games. He also highlighted the fact that it is always tough to defend a tally in Eden Gardens.

“In T20, it is a par score but if you look at this ground, it is one of those grounds where defending is not easy. You have to take wickets at regular intervals. It is difficult. There was a bit of dew so may not much (on plans if asked to defend again). It is all about execution. You always want to start on a high note early in the tournament. But yes, if you get these kinds of matches early in the tournament, you know how to improve in the next matches,” added Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
All in all, it has been an incredible game of cricket for Kolkata Knight Riders. Sadly, Sunrisers Hyderabad is on the wrong side of things. However, as Bhuvneshwar said, the games like those will help the team come better in the few games.
