IPL 2019: Is SRH Over-Dependent On Jonny Bairstow-David Warner? Rashid Khan Answers
Over the years, the batting burden has always been on the openers of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the past, it was Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. Now, it is on the shoulders of Jonny Bairstow and David Warner. But, that is something, which has become a concern for SRH, as the middle-order is being over-dependent. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan makes his voice on it.
The English batsman Jonny Bairstow had done brilliantly for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was a terrific knock for the English wicketkeeper-batsman. He called that the century against RCB was a huge highlight in his career. He then followed it up beautifully to get settled in the playing XI.
Meanwhile, the presence of David Warner is huge positive for the team. He announced his comeback in a style by smashing a scintillating knock for Hyderabad at Eden Gardens. Later, he continued in the remaining games and also bagged a century to be the leading run-scorer of the tournament at present.
In between, Rashid Khan, in an exclusive interview, quoted that the openers of the team have done brilliant enough to make things fall in place. But, in the meantime, he quoted that the middle-order department hasn’t really got the chances to express themselves. He believes that they will do the job when the opportunity comes.
Middle-order batsmen are waiting for their chances:
Rashid Khan also quoted that the middle-order batsmen are hitting the nets hard in order to deliver goods for the team. He is hopeful that they will deliver when the time comes.
There is no doubt that our openers are really good and they have been scoring a lot of runs. I think the middle order has not got a lot of opportunities so far. Everyone is in good form and hitting the nets hard. I think the middle order is waiting for a big opportunity to strike and I am confident they will come good if required in the matches to come.
Recently, in one of those staggering stats, David Warner became the first cricketer in Indian Premier League to score 500 runs in 5 consecutive seasons, which he played. On the other hand, Bairstow already registered a unique record of scoring highest runs in the debut season leaving inaugural edition.
Currently, David Warner is at the top place with 517 runs in his 9 innings while second place in the table was taken by Jonny Bairstow, who garnered 449 to his name.
