After a fine time, Delhi Capitals finally made it into the top 4 of the points table. They displayed exceptional cricketing skills on the field to make things fall in place in the Indian Premier League 2019. Meanwhile, the experienced cricketer in their ranks, Amit Mishra feels it is a great achievement from the lads.

The leg spinner quoted that the team got a good balance and also the dressing room, which has been the crucial aspect behind their success. Further, he added that the things have been kept simple by the team, which is also a reason for their success.

Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals

“It’s a big achievement. For the last five years, [Delhi] hadn’t been able to qualify for the playoffs. I have been playing here for three years. This time, we have qualified. It feels very good; the atmosphere is very nice, the [rapport] with everyone is nice. All of us support each other. The biggest thing I feel [that has aided in the success] is that we have kept things very simple,” Amit Mishra said.

Further, he also quoted that the presence of Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting has also been the major positive for the team. He showered words of praise on the duo for their exceptional work in the team, which made things fall in place at the crucial junctures of the tournament.

“No doubt, the presence of Dada (Sourav Ganguly, the team mentor) and Ricky Ponting (the head coach) has helped. Both are aggressive, but both are handling the team calmly. That’s very important for any team. They have made the atmosphere nice within the team, due to which I think the players are benefiting.”

On his own performance:

Amit Mishra also quoted that he is in a positive mindset, which is helping to deliver in the middle. He also went on to add saying that he wants to take wickets for the team at any cost, as it is something which changes the course of the game.

“My mindset was to take wickets. In the last few matches, I was bowling well but wasn’t getting wickets. Therefore, I was more aggressive for wickets today. When middle-order batsmen are dismissed the pressure is built upon the opposition,” he added as per SportStar.

However, it has been a brilliant season for Delhi Capitals. All the efforts they made ahead of the tournament seems like working for them at the crucial junctures.
