The second Super Over contest of the IPL 2019 went in favour of the hosts as Mumbai Indians won the thriller against SRH. Jasprit Bumrah conceded only eight runs in the Super Over and it took Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard only three balls to seal the two points. Thus, Mumbai Indians have confirmed their place in the playoff stages of the season. Kane Williamson said that it was a shame for them to end on the wrong side of the result.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians had posted a below-par score of 162 runs on the back of Quinton de Kock‘s knock of 69 runs. However, the southpaw batsman chewed as many as 58 balls. The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals and thus could never get going their innings moving forward.

Kane Williamson said that they bowled well in the first innings. However, losing wickets at regular intervals haunted them in the end. Manish Pandey scored a fine knock of 71 runs to help SRH take the match into the Super Over.

Kane Williamson said in the post-match presentation, “I have experience of few Super Overs and that time too, I finished on the wrong side. It was a fantastic effort by Manish and Nabi to get us so close. The first half was very good for us, our bowlers did a brilliant job. We just couldn’t get over the line. We were waiting to see how many runs we will be able to get in the Super Over. When it was eight, we decided to go with Rashid”.

“He is world-class in everything he does so we thought he is our man. Manish has got a great rhythm to his game now. It is a shame for us that we ended up on the wrong side today. We have one game left and it is important that we approach that in a similar way”.

In fact, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya all got off to starts but could not go on to make a big score. On the other hand, Khaleel Ahmed was the chief destroyer of Mumbai Indians innings as he scalped three wickets. Furthermore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Nabi scalped one wicket each and bowled cheap spells.

The match went down to the wire but Mumbai Indians kept their calm to get two points under their belt. Jasprit Bumrah was once again right on the money as he scalped two wickets and conceded 31 runs to take away the Man of the match award. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their last league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 4th May.
