Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah gave the Indian team and fans a big worry after he suffered a shoulder injury during Mumbai Indians’ first game of the season against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.

The extent of the injury is not yet known but he seemed to be in a bit of trouble as he did not come out to bat.

Also, he hasn’t travelled with the team to Bengaluru for their next match.

A report in NewIndianExpress.com now suggests that Bumrah will be rested for few games, which means that Mumbai Indians will miss out on the services of the pacer.

As per the report, team India’s physio Patrick Farhat got in touch with Mumbai Indians and advised rest to Bumrah.

For now, he is set to miss the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and it remains to be seen whether he will be available for the match against Kings XI Punjab a couple of days after RCB tie.

Mumbai Indians play their next home game on April 3 against Chennai Super Kings.

Considering that World Cup 2019 will be played just after IPL 2019, Bumrah might be given extra rest.

This could mean that he will make a comeback in the team’s home tie next week only.

The good news for the Indian team and MI is that the issue is not a bigger one and he will be fit to play soon.

But Bumrah’s injury has surely put pressure on other World Cup-bound players, especially pace bowlers.

Bhuvnehswar Kumar had talked about managing workload ahead of IPL and had hinted at taking rest in the second phase of the league.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli had also talked about it and had said that the players should manage their workload during the tournament.

Mumbai Indians take on Royal Challengers in their next match in an away fixture on March 28.

Following that, the team will travel to Mohali to take on Kings XI Punjab on Saturday.

The Rohit-Sharma led side lost its first fixture to Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Batting first, the visitors scored 213/6.

MI managed to score 176/10 and lost the tie by 37 runs.

Despite losing the match, Yuvraj Singh stole the show by scoring 53 off 35 on his debut for Mumbai Indians.
