Kolkata Knight Riders‘ (KKR) assistant coach Simon Katich while talking about his team partaking in the ongoing twelfth edition of the IPL 2019, has further cited the authority of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing under the tutelage of astute thinker MS Dhoni.
Katich is seeing Dhoni as a major boost for CKS’s domination over the years. Dhoni has been a cornerstone for the Chennai-based franchise. He has instilled hope among youngsters which also saw him lifting three IPL trophies to his name in 2010, 2011 and 2018 respectively.
Meanwhile, CSK has been on a song by winning three consecutive matches. Apart from losing a game against Mumbai Indians (MI), upbeat CSK are looking forward to deliver as a unit against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on April 6 in Chennai.
On the other side, Katich is keen to help KKR’s campaign. In the impending game, Dinesh Karthik-led KKR will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Meanwhile, they have played three games. Recently, they lost the super over contest at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi against Delhi Capitals (DC).

While shedding light one of the most consistent IPL teams, the 43-year-old Katich believes it’s the perseverance of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the other senior teammates to emerge as hot-favourites among the fans too
Regarding the consistency, Katich reiterated the contribution from the seniors alongside has paved a way for CSK’s success over a decade or so. He reiterated the senior players have shouldered the responsibility quite often to set the tone one season after another.
“There isn’t any difference except for winning the big moments that CSK did last season. They have a lot of experienced players in their team who stood up in the big games and are led by the all-time great in MS Dhoni,” Katich said.
Recently, the 37-year-old Dhoni has blasted unbeaten 75 off 46 balls against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
“We also have a lot of senior players. And we hope they will share the experience with the juniors. Also, show them how to win a title this season,” Katich inferred.
Being an experienced campaigner, Dhoni has been further known for his composure. He has featured in 179 matches to amass 4,135 runs at an average of 40.49. He further went on to register 21 half-centuries.
