IPL 2019: Kolkata Police Takes a Dig at Ravichandran Ashwin’s Mankad

Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin’s had drawn a lot of flak after the Mankading episode. Ashwin has been the centre of attraction since he decided to ran out Jos Buttler. Meanwhile, Kolkata Police took a dig at Ravichandran Ashwin. Police shared a picture of the vehicles standing in front of the crossing line, which is against the Police rules.
Meanwhile, we had seen a similar incident when Jaipur police had trolled Jaspirt Bumrah for his no ball in the Champions Trophy final. On the other hand, Ashwin had run-out Jos Buttler in the 13th over of the match when Rajasthan Royals were in a winning position.
Ashwin has faced a lot of humiliation.
However, Ashwin was within the rights of the laws to affect the run-out. Jos Buttler was outside his crease and Ashwin decided to go for the Mankading.
Meanwhile, former players were not all impressed with Ravichandran Ashwin’s action. Most of the former players went on to criticise Ashwin and said that his actions were against the spirit of the game.
However, it is interesting to note that if the Mankading is against the spirit of the game, then why it is within the laws of the game. Former players like Shane Warne had stated that Ashwin’s actions were disgraceful.
On the other hand, there was also a discussion that Ashwin should have given a warning to Jos Buttler. However, as per the latest law 41:16, it is not compulsory for the bowler to warn the batsman before Mankading him.
In fact, most of the people have messed up the laws and the spirit of the game. Both of these facts are different and it makes no sense to say that Mankading is against the spirit of the game since it is within the rules.
Kolkata Police took to their Twitter account to take a sly dig at Ravichandran Ashwin.
