Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya earned the respect of former English skipper Michael Vaughan after he warned Mayank Agarwal for leaving the crease and didn’t run him out like Kings XI Punjab Ravichandran Ashwin did a few matches ago. Michael Vaughan lauded him and said that this is the way one should deal with a Mankad.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Vaughan wrote, “Respect @krunalpandya24 … that’s exactly how you deal with a Mankad … Give the Batsman a warning then it’s open season after that … #IPL2019. Mayank Agarwal had left the crease way too early and Krunal Pandya warned him. You are not allowed to leave the crease as per the rules and now its high time that the umpires warn the batsman for backing up too match like they warn the bowlers for running on the danger area.

A few days ago Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had ‘Mankaded’ Jos Buttler which irked many critics to come hard at Ashwin for his gesture. Everyone felt that it cannot be expected from a senior statesman of the game like Ashwin. The spinner didn’t even give a warning to Jos Buttler before running him out. Jos Buttler was actually well within his crease when Ashwin halted in his action and waited for Buttler to get out of the crease and then ran him out.

Coming back to the 9th match of the tournament between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab, the hosts are well on course to win the match with set batsman KL Rahul out in the middle with South African power hitter David Miller.
Earlier in the day, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who won the toss and put the visitors in. Mumbai Indians began brilliantly and skipper Rohit Sharma looked in fluent rhythm from the outset. However a few quick wickets halted the progress of Mumbai Indians. Quinton de Kock played a fine knock and was eventually dismissed on 60 of 39 deliveries which included 6 fours and a couple of sixes.

Mumbai lost the plot in the last few overs and couldn’t quite capitalize on their great start. At one stage they looked well set to score 200 but good bowling halted their progress and they could eventually muster 176 in their allotted 20 overs.
