It was a great catch by Kagiso Rabada in the fine leg which sent back Nitish Rana to the pavilion during the 9th IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Capitals. Harshal Patel playing in his first game of the tourney bowled a back of a length delivery which Nitish Rana timed pretty well. The ball few of the bat and Kagiso Rabada in the deep took an extremely well-judged catch to bring down curtains on Nitish Rana’s innings.

Following his dismissal, KKR were reduced to 44/4 and was in serious trouble. After winning the toss it was Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer who won the toss and opted to bowl. It was debutant Nikhil Naik who walked out in the middle with Chris Lynn to begin proceedings. Sunil Narine missed the game due to an injury which helped Naik made his debut.

However, he failed to make an impression as he was dismissed after making 7 of 16 deliveries which lacked rhythm. KKR lost the wickets of Robin Uthappa and Chris Lynn in quick succession which totally put them to the backfoot. The wicket of Shubhman Gill added to the woes but it was Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell who resurrected the KKR innings with some exceptional strokeplay.

Russell carried on from where he left in Kolkata and smashed Sandeep Lamichanne for a couple of sixes in succession. He looked in great touch until he was struck on the shoulders by a beamer from Harshal Patel. In the free hit, he failed to time the ball properly and was apparently angry with the injury as he thought it was restricting his strokeplay.
When the article was written KKR was 101/5 in 14 overs with Andre Russell and skipper Dinesh Karthik at the crease. If the two remains till the 18th over we can expect a few fireworks in the last few overs.
