Mar 30, 2019 at 2:05 PM
Rajasthan Royals (RR) have had the worst start to this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They will be desperate to return to winning ways when they face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 31 (Sunday) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Rajasthan will have to regroup themselves and come out stronger in their next games. They have played their best XI in all the games; however, the results didn’t come by. The batting unit have done an excellent job, and the onus will be on the bowlers to rise up to the occasion. The likes of Dhawal Kulkarni and Shreyas Gopal will have to provide breakthroughs to keep an in-form Chennai team in check.
Rajasthan Royals are likely to make a single change from their side that took on Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Date and Venue: March 31 (Sunday), MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Here is the predicted XI of Rajasthan Royals for match 12 against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium:
AJINKYA RAHANE
Ajinkya Rahane has looked in great touch in both the games and the franchise will bank on him to get his side off to another good start. Besides, Rahane will be keen to bring out the best from his players to register their first win of the season.
JOS BUTTLER
Jos Buttler had a rare failure in the last game; however, it shouldn’t worry the English cricketer. The franchise will bestow Buttler with the job of taking on Chennai Super Kings bowlers who have done an outstanding job so far in the tournament.
SANJU SAMSON
Sanju Samson played a classical knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad but went in vain. The Kerala batsman after his knock pointed out that this is just the beginning and the franchise will want more big scores from the right-hander.
STEVEN SMITH
Steven Smith is yet to fire in the ongoing IPL. The former Australian skipper needs to get back on the groove and start scoring for Rajasthan Royals. Moreover, Smith will use this platform to return to the national squad.
BEN STOKES
Ben Stokes is yet to play a significant role for Rajasthan. The English all-rounder needs to fire soon and help his return to winning ways if they want to qualify from the group stages.
RAHUL TRIPATHI
Rahul Tripathi has not got a real chance to showcase his talent with the bat. Tripathi will hope to get an opportunity with the bat and prove his worth in the team. Besides, he has done an excellent job in the boundary line grabbing some crucial catches.
KRISHNAPPA GOWTHAM
Krishnappa Gowtham had a poor outing with the ball as David Warner took him for plenty in the powerplay. However, the all-rounder has the pedigree to bounce back and will look to chip in with few crucial wickets against Chennai Super Kings.
JOFRA ARCHER
Jofra Archer is one of the best in the business in this format. Although he missed his lengths by a whisker in the last tie, Archer will want to get back to his best. Also, Archer can contribute with the bat too in the lower-order.
SHREYAS GOPAL
Shreyas Gopal bowled a stunning over picking two wickets to bring Rajasthan Royals back in the game. The leg-spinner needs to continue his good form to keep the Super Kings batters in check.
VARUN AARON
Varun Aaron has been in good form of late in the domestic circuit. The pacer will want to continue his excellent form and use his express pace to hurry up the batters. Rajasthan Royals management will wish Aaron to pick some wickets with the new ball.
DHAWAL KULKARNI
Dhawan Kulkarni with all his experience should stand up and deliver for Rajasthan Royals. Chennai Super Kings have a quality batting line-up, and Kulkarni will have a crucial role to play.
