Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued their winning run as they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight runs in match 12 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals got off to the worst start as they lost their skipper Ajinkya Rahane in the second ball of their chase. Chennai Super Kings continued their dominance with that ball as they send two more batsmen packing within the first three overs. Losing Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and Rahane at the score of only 14 runs, Rajasthan were looking at a heavy defeat. Since then, Steven Smith and Rahul Tripathi added 61 runs for the fourth wicket to take the total to a respectable position.
MS Dhoni brought Imran Tahir in search of wickets and the veteran spinner delivered once again. He removed Tripathi in the first over while came in the next to remove the set Steven Smith. Since then, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer led an outstanding comeback to almost take their side home but Dwayne Bravo bowled an outstanding last over to defend the target.
Dhoni guided Chennai to 175
Previously, MS Dhoni powered Chennai Super Kings to 175 runs at the end of 20 overs. However, Rajasthan Royals got off to a brilliant start having the host for 27 for three within five over. The openers in Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu along with Kedar Jadhav were already back in the hut. Since then MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina added 61 runs to the bail their side out of danger. They initially took some time as the wicket behaved abnormally with few balls stopping before coming to the batsmen. They relied mostly on ones and two’s while the odd boundaries kept coming. However, Jaydev Unadkat struck against the run of play to dismiss Suresh Raina to bring the Royals back in the game.
With 88 for four in 13.4 overs, MS Dhoni muscled his way to add 87 runs in the last six overs. He registered his 21st IPL fifty to take his side over the 150-run mark. The former India skipper remained unbeaten 75 runs off 48 balls including four boundaries and sixes each. Dwayne Bravo also played a small cameo to provide the momentum to the side.

That’ll help – Ben Stokes taking advantage of Jadeja’s angle in to him, and going Full Angry to the tune of 14 off the over.@rajasthanroyals need a few more of those, and @ChennaiIPL still have 1 over of Tahir and 2 of DJ Bravo to come.#CSKvRR 🏏💛💗#IPL12#IPL2019

No matter how high you hit the ball, you won't get the desired result until you clear the ropes…. Yes, Steve Smith had to face this cruel reality of Cricket today. #CSKvRR
