Kings XI Punjab registered a sensational come from behind victory against the Delhi Capitals after they were done and dusted till the last 4 overs of the game. It should one of the greatest comeback victories in the history of IPL. They lost 7 wickets in 17 deliveries scoring just 8 runs. It was just pathetic batting from Delhi Capitals as they lost their way totally in the last few overs.

It was Delhi Capitals skipper who won the toss and opted to field. Lokesh Rahul started off well with a few boundaries but it was impressive bowling from Chris Morris to get rid off KL Rahul. Sandeep Lamichhane was introduced quite early in the attack and he didn’t disappoint. He bowled in the perfect areas and waited for the batters to commit the mistake.

The Delhi Capitals bowlers were quite impressive in the middle overs and never really allowed Kings XI Punjab to come hard at their bowlers. David Miller played a great knock and was eventually dismissed on 43 after facing 29 deliveries. Mandeep Singh provided the late impetus which took Kings XI Punjab to a competitive score of 166 runs.

Delhi Capitals lost Prithvi Shaw in the very first delivery of the innings as he edged a good delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin straight to KL Rahul behind the stumps. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer looked in good touch and shared a good partnership before Iyer’s wicket. Colin Ingram played a great knock and until he was there it seemed, Delhi Capitals would cruise to their victory target.

It was the 17th over bowled by Mohammed Shami which turned the match in favour of Kings XI Punjab. He bowled quite brilliantly and was backed up by a special final over from Sam Curran. He bagged a hat-trick to finish of proceedings as Kings XI Punjab registered a 14 runs victory.

Now here is what Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin said at the post-match presentation

Not many time, you defend. When Rishabh hit the six, we just needed to hang in there. Credit to Shami and Curran. We were probably 25 runs short. We backed ourselves to defend with tree spinners. All in all, dew also came in and played a factor.

We were gonna bat first. We thought Chris wasn’t there. We wanted to give him all the licence upfront. We thought there was a grip there. We are quite a bunch with experience and a lot of youngsters. We have to keep ourselves fresh. We are having a very good experience. I have never seen crowd like this in Mohali. It was extremely loud.
