The losing streak of Royal Challengers Bangalore continued as they lost their 6th match on a trot in Vivo IPL 12 against the Delhi Capitals to push themselves into a further corner in the tournament. After batting first, RCB managed to score 149 in their allotted 20 overs after batting first. It wasn’t enough as Delhi Capitals eventually managed to win the game quite convincingly by 6 wickets in the game.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the wicket of inform batsman Parthiv Patel. He had looked in good touch all through the tournament and should have carry on. However, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli tried to resurrect the innings but the former South Africa international gave away his wicket pretty cheaply to his fellow countrymen Kagiso Rabada.
Virat Kohli played dodgy innings and managed to face only 29 deliveries in 17 odd overs. He was eventually dismissed by Kagiso Rabada as he managed to up the ante in the final few overs. He scored 41 of 33 deliveries before his dismissal. Only Moeen Ali looked in great touch and struck 32 of 18 deliveries. Eventually, RCB managed to score a decent 149 which was at least 10-15 runs short of a par total. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the DC bowlers bagging 4 wickets for 21 runs.
Delhi Capitals lost the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan pretty early on but Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer helped DC recover from the poor start and go to a position of strength. Prithvi Shaw struck 5 fours in an over of Tim Southee which started the onslaught. The skipper of DC looked in great touch and scored a well-deserved half-century to take DC within touching distance of the victory target.
Delhi Capitals did lose a couple of quick wickets towards the final part of the match but by then the match was almost done and dusted. For Bangalore, the only plus point was the bowling of Navdeep Saini who has been pretty consistent in the tournament so far.
Now here is what Man of the Match Kagiso Rabada said at the post-match presentation
It has been a weird tournament for us as a team. It worked for me today and am glad. On a daily basis, you try to execute your simple skills. It is important to back yourself and I do it. I don’t see myself as a leader. If people are looking for some advice, am always there. I have a responsibility at the top of the innings and at the death.
