IPL 2019, Match 23: Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR Predicted Playing XI
Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have been on a roll n the tournament so far. They are currently at the top of the points table with 4 victories from 5 matches. They could have won all 5 had they held their nerves during the Super Over against Delhi Capitals. Apart from that hiccup, KKR has been quite convincing in the tournament thanks to Andre Russell who have been simply phenome3nal in the tournament so far.
KKR is all set to lock horns against the Chennai Super Kings and it should be a humdinger on our hands. So with more than 24 hours left for the match to start let us have a look at the Predicted Playing XI of Kolkata Knight Riders
The southpaw was at his hitting best against the Rajasthan Royals last day as his 47 laid the perfect foundation for KKR to chase down a below-par target of 140. Earlier in the day, the tweaker bowled brilliantly. His all-round abilities lend the ideal balance to the team.
The Australian power hitter also roared back to form with a well-composed half-century. He found the gaps quite consistently and looked like getting his rhythm back. Lynn is also an integral part of the KKR setup and his fielding abilities also make him a special player.
KKR has wasted the talent of Shubhman Gill all through the tournament. He has been sent in by the team management late in the batting order which has never really allowed himself to get himself going. I definitely want to see Shubhman Gill bat up the order.
He is one of the most stylish Indian batsmen. When he starts finding the boundaries and sixes, Uthappa becomes a difficult prospect for any opposition bowler to contain. He has looked in impressive touch in the tournament so far and will look to continue his exploits.
The southpaw has been another important member of the KKR side. He has racked up consistent performances in the tournament so far and has been an integral part of the KKR middle order. He can also bowl some handy off-breaks which might be used by the skipper in Chennai.
The skipper has led his troops well but hasn’t been able to finish off games like he used to do a year ago. Karthik has also been a safe wicket-keeper behind the stumps and has hardly missed any catches or stumpings.
This man has helped KKR snatch victory from the jaws of defeat on a couple of occasions at least. He has been highly consistent in the tournament so far with scores of 49, 48, 63 and 48 to his name. Russell is also an important bowler for KKR who has the ability to give his captain at least 23 good overs.
The veteran leg-spinner has bowled well in patches and has been the go-to bowler for Dinesh Karthik in the powerplays. He has leaked some runs so far but his wicket-taking abilities make him a force to reckon with. Piyush Chawla is also a useful lower order batsman who can strike the ball a long way.
The left-arm chinaman bowler hasn’t been at his best in the tournament so far. Kuldeep has leaked runs which haven’t helped KKR in the middle overs. To add to that, he hasn’t bagged enough wickets which have made life difficult for Dinesh Karthik. Kuldeep will look to get back to his wicket-taking abilities once KKR meets the Chennai Super Kings tomorrow.
The left-arm speedster from England was the main destroyer for KKR in his debut match as he returned with the Man of the Match Award against the Rajasthan Royals. He finished with impressive figures of 2/25 in his allotted 4 overs which helped KKR restrict RR to a manageable score of 139 runs.
The Karnataka speedster has lacked the bite this year and has gone for plenty of runs. However, he has done a good job whenever his franchise has been under the pump. Prasidh bowled a sensational super over against the Delhi Capitals but the KKR batters couldn’t make full use of the bowling performance by Prasidh. He is expected to get a chance tomorrow but he should start performing on a consistent basis.
