Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab will be looking to extend their recent impressive run when they take on each other at the Wankhede Stadium. Both the teams are entering the contest on the back of impressive wins over last year’s finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai have won their last two matches which were against Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers. On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab have won three of their last four games. Both the teams have already met once this season with Kings XI Punjab coming out on top.

Meanwhile, with Rohit Sharma injuring himself during training on Tuesday, he is not fit for the this game. In his absence Kieron Pollard is looking set to lead the side. The allrounder was seen walking out with the team-sheet ahead of the toss.

Toss:

Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to field first against Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium in the twenty-fourth match of this year’s Indian Premier League.

Here is what the captains said:

Ravi Ashwin:

” We would have bowled first too but teams have defended well on this track. We have a forced change in our team, Mayank has not recovered from his finger injury so Karun Nair will replace him. And Hardus Viljoen also comes back in the team. He will replace Mujeeb.”

Kieron Pollard:

“We will bowl first because of the dew factor. We don’t think wicket will change much. Rohit is fine but as a precautionary measure we have decided to give him as a rest.”
