Kings XI Punjab will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mohali. Kings XI Punjab’s impressive run in the tournament came to a screeching halt with a heartbreaking final-ball defeat to Mumbai Indians when they failed to defend 198 despite reducing Mumbai to 65 for 3 after ten overs. The Ravi Ashwin-led side, however, have a good chance of getting back to winning ways at home. So far, they have won all the three home games this season.
On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are still looking for their first victory. They have lost all of their opening six games so far and can all but say goodbye to the competition if they lose against Kings XI.
Toss:
Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the toss and decided to field first against Kings XI Punjab at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium.
Here is what the captains said:
Virat Kohli:
“We are gonna bowl. There is a lot of dew later on and we are a team that likes chasing. I have lost 5 out 6 tosses, so wanted to bowl first. We have no option but to come out and fight every game. Our position in the table is a reflection on how we have played so far. We are playing with three foreigners, Umesh replaces Southee.”
Ravi Ashwin:
“That’s how the IPL is. We have played some good cricket over the seven games. WE have been very consistent; chased down totals and defended totals. WE have a couple of forced changes – Viljeon is down with flu, Tye comes in. Mayank comes back in and M Ashwin comes in for Rajpoot.”
