Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Keemo Paul picked three crucial wickets to dismantle Sunrisers Hyderabad as they jumped to the second spot in the points table of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Paul, who grabbed eyeballs with his variations said that it is a dream come true moment for him.
Meanwhile, batting first Delhi managed to post 155 runs on the board. Colin Munro and skipper Shreyas Iyer got 40+ scores with good support from Rishabh Pant to set the tone for a gid score. But they could manage only 30 runs in the last four overs losing three wickets. Iyer was downed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s short ball, Pant then threw it away against Khaleel, giving the latter his third wicket, only for Rashid Khan to come to the party with Chris Morris’s wicket. Khaleel Ahmed starred among the bowlers returning with three wickets.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad got a good start from Jonny Bairstow and David Warner. But once Keemon Paul removed Bairstow as the momentum shifted in Delhi’s favour. The hosts couldn’t recuperate from that loss as Paul removed Kane Williamson soon after. He returned to claim one wicket before Kagiso Rabada, and Chris Morris finished off the proceeding with both bowlers picking three wickets each.
Speaking at the end of the match, Keemo Paul admitted that he lived his dream today. He also credited his family for standing by his side during adverse situations. The Windies cricketer also rated IPL as the biggest league in the world and noted that he just tried to acclimatise to the wicket and it worked for him well.
“First of all, thanks to God. This is a dream come true for me. My family has supported me tremendously. It is the biggest league in the world and why not enjoy it. Went back of the hand and it worked for me. I just tried to adapt to the wicket. I just bowled to suit the wicket,” Paul said.
Furthermore, Keemo Paul dedicated his man of the match award to his friends, family and teammates and thanked them for the immense support over the years.
“This game is all about confidence. I have not been getting much to contribute with the bat so wanted to contribute more. This is for the friends, family and all my teammates. Thank you for the support,” he concluded.
