Sunrisers Hyderabad presented an all-round effort to sink defending champions Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Thus, Chennai lost their second game of the season but still hold onto the top spot in the points table.
Hyderabad sinks Chennai to return to winning ways
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have combined well in this tournament and it was no different in this game. On a wicket where Chennai Super Kings struggled to get going, the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers got off to a flying start. The right-hand-left-hand combination took the attack to the opposition right from the start. They dismissed everything at their disposal to score 50 runs within the first five overs. Warner looked in great touch as he reached his half-century in just 24 deliveries to set the platform for the chase.
Deepak Chahar, who has been providing breakthroughs got the better of Warner (50) this time as he tried to go over the mid of only to find Faf du Plessis. The wicket of Warner opened the gets as Imran Tahir stop delivery got the better of skipper Kane Williamson. But since then, Jonny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar batted sensibly to take the team close to the winning runs. Although Sunrisers Hyderabad lost Shankar and Deepak Hooda in quick succession, Jonny Bairstow took them home comfortably.
Previously, the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers produced a stunning bowling effort to contain the Chennai Super Kings to 132 runs. Meanwhile, the defending champions got off to an outstanding start adding 79 runs for the first wicket. Shahbaz Nadeem provided the first breakthrough which triggered a collapse as they lost their next four wickets in just 22 runs. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad returning with two for 17 in his full quota while Khaleel Ahmed and Vijay Shankar also chipped in with one each.
Since then, Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja added 31 runs without any hiccups to post 132 runs on a difficult looking pitch. This will be a waking call to the Chennai Super Kings who needs to introspect themselves as a team in the absence of MS Dhoni.

Dismissing a batsman while playing a defensive shot speaks volumes about the quality of bowling. Tahir has been the spinner of this #IPL #SRHvCSK

CSK didn't start as Brand Dhoni in 2008. But it has revolved around him over the years. Fans have associated Dhoni with Chennai, a city he has no connection with except playing for their franchise. Should look to rebuild the team after he retires.#IPL2019#SRHvCSK
