IPL 2019, Match 43: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals: Aakash Chopra Surprised with the Exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav
World class bowler Kuldeep Yadav has been going through a rough patch in his career after mediocre returns for Kolkata Knight Riders in Vivo IPL 12 so far. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that Kuldeep Yadav is a top-class bowler but his off-form might be a major concern for India as the 12th edition of the World Cup comes closer.
Kuldeep was smashed for 27 runs in an over by Moeen Ali during KKR’s last match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He conceded more than 50 runs in his 4 overs spell. After that particular match, the KKR team management decided to give a break to Kuldeep Yadav and he has not returned to the team since then.
In the ongoing match between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals, Kuldeep Yadav is still warming the benches and it surprised Aakash Chopra. The former Indian batsman expressed his displeasure at Kuldeep Yadav not being the art of the KKR playing in today’s encounter.
Taking to his twitter handle, Aakash Chopra wrote, “Still no Kuldeep??? Slightly surprised…. #KKRvRR #IPL. There is certainly no doubt that Kuldeep has underperformed for KKR in this season so far. However, there is also no doubt that he is a match-winning bowler. Hence KKR should have gone for him especially given their backs are towards the wall.

KKR has struggled quite a bit in the last few matches and has gone onto lose 5 consecutive matches. There was a point when he was leading the charts in the points table. However, after losing 5 matches on a trot, they have plummeted towards the bottom half of the points table.
