IPL 2019, Match 43: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals- Match Preview, Predicted XI, Time and Venue, Head to Head, Pitch Report, Weather Report, Prediction
It will be a must-win contest for both teams when Kolkata Knight Riders lock horns against the Rajasthan Royals in the 43rd match of Vivo IPL 12. Both teams have been pretty ordinary in their recent past and now are on the verge of bowing out of the tournament. However, the Knight Riders will be confident of getting their campaign back on track against an opposition who are just a defeat away from getting eliminated from the competition.
After leading the points table in the first half of the tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders have lost 5 matches on a trot which has made their situation very difficult in the tournament. They need to win their remaining 4 matches to qualify for the playoffs. A win will be quite essential for KKR in today’s clash.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are on the verge of getting eliminated. They are at the bottom of the points table and need to win their remaining matches to harbour hopes of going through to the playoffs. Ajinkya Rahane scored a sensational century in the previous clash which was one of the bright spots for Rajasthan.
Despite his sensational knock, the RR bowlers were pretty ordinary and allowed Delhi Capitals to chase down the target with utmost ease in the end. Rahane came out with intent in the previous clash and it showed in his strokeplay. He looked in ominous touch and went onto score his 2nd IPL century.
The bowling department has been led brilliantly by Jofra Archer and Shreyas Gopal. However, the likes of Jaydev Unadkat has been pretty ordinary which has resulted in RR losing 7 out of the 10 matches they have played so far. The emergence of Riyan Parag, the 17-year-old all-rounder has been a good sign for Rajasthan.
Meanwhile Kolkata Knight Riders has been highly reliant on the services of Andre Russell who has been spectacular in the tournament so far. He has single handedly helped KKR win a couple of matchyes and was on the verge of finishing a couple more. He should bat up the order and look to allow himself some time to set in.
The bowling department for KKR has been pretty ordinary in the tournament so far. The form of Kuldeep Yadav has been a major concern for KKR as the main wicket-taker has failed to contain the opposition batsmen and bag wickets. Kuldeep was dropped from the previous game. However, given his class and temperament, Kuldeep should be back for tomorrow’s clash.
Date and Venue:
The match will be played on 25th April 2019, Thursday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from 8 pm.
Kolkata Knight Riders:
Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Yarra Prithviraj, Prasidh Krishna

Head to Head:
Matches Played: 20, Kolkata Knight Riders: 10, Rajasthan Royals: 9, No Result- 1
Eden Gardens is expected to be a belter of a batting wicket but if the bowler can persist with a good line and length they can challenge the opposition batters. The Eden Gardens has been a high scoring venue in IPL especially in the recent past.
However, there will be some pace and bounce for the bowlers which will keep them interested. In all, it should be an even contest between two teams trying to get their campaign back on track.
It is expected to be a perfect day for cricket in Kolkata when KKR and RR meet in the 43rd clash of the tournament. As it will be a night game, the temperature should remain around 27 to 30 degrees and should be a pretty eventful day for a game of cricket. Despite some late thundershowers in the city earlier, we can expect a full 4 overs match tomorrow.
Both teams have been struggling in the tournament off late and has failed to get their campaign back on track. It will be a big game for both teams but I feel that KKR have a slight advantage and might come out triumphant. Rajasthan Royals have played well in patches but my prediction says KKR will the 43rd match of the competition.
