IPL 2019, Match 50: Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals – Delhi Capitals’ Predicted Playing XI

The top two teams are set to take on each other at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 1st. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are placed second on the list with Delhi Capitals (DC) leading the IPL 2019 points table based on net run-rate. The prominence shown by Capitals was admired by many in the gentleman’s game. Delhi Capitals’ Predicted Playing XI could witness a change or so.

With both teams into the playoffs after playing 12 matches each, the eyes would be on which team would top the table at the end of group stage fixtures.

Following a mixed run in this season so far for Prithvi Shaw, with Capitals already into the playoffs, the skipper is expected to introduced top-order batsman Manjot Kalra

The 20-year-old left-handed batsman is known for setting up the tempo. In the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup, Kalra has slammed unbeaten 101 against Australia in the grand finale on Kiwis shores.

In all likelihood, he could make his IPL debut against the CSK.

Happy with the underdog tag, says Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer has himself stood tall to take the responsibility in changing Capitals’ fortunes this year. After a fifty in the previous match, Iyer would be keen to continue contributing to his team

He has scored 383 runs in 12 matches at an average of 34.82.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had a mixed season. He has played a good role in the middle if we take away his unpredictability while playing those rash shots. Known as a gamechanger, he would be optimistic about taking the challenge head-on.

Colin Ingram:

Colin Ingram has an essential role to play for the Capitals. While having a mixed season so far, Ingram has struggled following a start. He has amassed 171 runs in 10 innings at an average of 21.38.

However, with 140-plus strike-rate, he is in good stead to face CSK’s bowlers.

In a couple of opportunities, Sherfane Rutherford made his presence felt with the bat, too after a quiet start. He played a 13-ball unbeaten 28-run cameo against RCB to help his side to put a total of 187 on the board.

Ishant Sharma, who has found his rhythm bowled splendid penultimate over against RCB which set the plinth of Capitals’ win over RCB.

In 10 matches, he managed just seven wickets; however, he’s capable of picking wickets in a flurry.

Sandeep Lamichhane:

The Nepal star Sandeep Lamichhane has a major role given to his position. So far, he has featured in six matches to claim eight wickets. The wily customer needs to stem the run-flow against the CSK.

It would be a major battle to look at.
