Veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra was very close to bagging his 4th IPL hat-trick but it wasn’t to be as Trent Boult made a mess of the high catch which could have given Amit Mishra his 4th and a historic hat-trick. Earlier in the day, it was Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane who won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch which didn’t seem so slow as it behaved halfway through the 1st innings of the match.
Ajinkya Rahane who returned to form with a century not long ago was dismissed in the 2nd over while attempting to up the ante. Ishant Sharma who is making a comeback in the match looked in good rhythm and bagged the wicket of Rahane. He was impressive in his next over as well as he bagged the wicket of Liam Livingstone.

A miscommunication between Sanju Samson and Mahipal Lomror cost RR a very important wicket in the form of Samson. Meanwhile, Mahipal Lomror was also dismissed pretty soon by Ishant Sharma as DC kept chipping away with the wickets. In the next over it was Amit Mishra who weaved his magic and bagged two crucial wickets.
Shreyas Gopal came dancing down the track and hoped to hit the ball out of the park. However, he missed it completely and was stumped by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. Stuart Binny was dismissed in the very next delivery as he wanted to guide the ball towards the 3rd man area. Yet again Rishabh Pant took a great catch behind the stumps.
Mishra looked well set to take the hat-trick when newcomer K Gowtham attempted a wild slog in his very first delivery. The ball went straight up in the air and it was a miscommunication between the fielders. No one really went for the catch and in the end, it was Trent Boult who gave an effort but in vain. Amit Mishra was pretty disappointed on missing out on his 4tth IPL hat-trick.
