May 4, 2019 at 5:12 PM
Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is regarded as one of the most talented young cricketers of the modern generation. However, his consistency is a major area of concern which was evident for yet another time when he was run out during the 53rd match of Vivo IPL 12 between the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals.
It was Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane who won the toss and without any hesitation opted to bat first. It was a belter of a batting wicket with the look of things and it was an expected call by Rahane who was again handed the captaincy in the absence of Steve Smith. It was the captain who came out to open the innings with Liam Livingstone.
Rajasthan got off to the worst possible start and lost the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the 2nd over. The wicket of Liam Livingstone followed as Ishant Sharma looked in terrific rhythm. It was Mahipal Lomror who joined Sanju Samson in the crease. On the 3rd delivery of the 5th over, it was an utter miscommunication which cost Rajasthan Royals in the form of Sanju Samson’s wicket.

As he tapped a delivery from Axar Patel towards the off side he set off for a run. However, there was no response from his partner, Mahipal Lomror as Sanju Samson was left stranded. Samson was disappointed with Lomror and it was quite evident from his reaction. Following the wicket of Samson, it was Ishant Sharma again who bagged the wicket of Lomror in the very next over.
Wickets kept tumbling on a consistent basis as Amit Mishra came into the act and bagged three quick wickets. He was in line to get his 4th IPL hat-trick when a high catch was dropped by Trent Boult. Meanwhile, he bagged the wicket of K Gowtham in his next over as Rajasthan Royals lost their 7th wicket. When the article was written Rajasthan Royals were tottering on 67/7 in 14 overs.
