IPL 2019: Match 6, KKR vs KXIP – Twitter Rejoices As Kolkata Knight Riders Script Consecutive Wins
Mar 27, 2019 at 11:38 PM
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continued their winning run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) beating Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 28 runs at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. With two in two and Andre Russell looking in devastating form, KKR will be a tough nut to crack for the other teams.
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab succumbed to pressure as they lost KL Rahul early on the innings. In an attempt to match up the required run-rate, KL Rahul mistimed one to find Piyush Chawla in the mid-on region. Rahul’s poor run with the bat continues which brought Mayank Agarwal to the crease. Chris Gayle, Rahul’s opening partner, changed his tactics from the last game to try to match up to the asking rate.
Just when Gayle started to look dangerous hitting two boundaries and sixes each, Andre Russell got better of him to break the backbone of Punjab’s batting. Mayank Agarwal and David Miller tried their best to take Kings XI Punjab, but the asking run-rate kept on cropping up. The pair added 74 runs before Piyush Chawla cleaned up Mayank (58). Punjab eventually ended at 190 for four with David Miller’s form the only takeaway from this game.
Russell carnage at Eden
Previously, batting first Kolkata Knight Riders posted 218 runs on the board at the halfway mark. Sunil Narine started off the proceedings before Punjab removed both the openers. Since then, Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa took the game off to the fifth gear. They added 110 runs for the third wicket taking the attack to Punjab bowlers. They targeted the spinners in Varun Chakravarthy and Ravichandran Ashwin to set the platform for Andre Russell to cash in. Rana departed scoring 63 runs off 34 deliveries including two boundaries and seven sixes to initiate a carnage. However, his departure brought the big Jamaican to the crease.
However, right at the start of his innings, Mohammed Shami yorked him and while he was on his way back, only to be called back by the umpire because of a no-ball (non-compliance of the fielding restrictions). And then, Andre Russell laid into Shami, absolutely ravaging everything in his way and brandishing his willow to club 47 of the 18th and 19th overs. Eventually, Kolkata Knight Riders posted 218 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Two wins from two matches will be a massive booster for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they will look to continue the winning momentum in the next games.

It's not ashwins fault friends. He's busy in checking whether non-striker is in crease or not.#KKRvKXIP #Ashwin #Russell

Nitish rana is the most under rated player among all the younger slot. He deserves much more attention #KKRvKXIP

Ashwin's persona has changed so much. Not sure if his behavior of bully is his deliberate attempt to make his frustration at losing his spot in national side evident. #KKRvKXIP
