IPL 2019: Match 7, RCB vs MI – I Enjoy Bowling Here in Bangalore and I Used to the Conditions – Yuzvendra Chahal
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to restrict Mumbai Indians (MI) for 187 runs after a late cameo from Hardik Pandya at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Yuvzendra Chahal who starred with the ball for Bangalore said that it is a good total but not safe considering that it is hard to bowl at Chinnaswamy due to excessive dew.
Mumbai Indians got off to a flier after Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to field first. Rohit Sharma & Co made two changes to their playing XI including Lasith Malinga who joined the squad last night. Sharma and Quinton de Kock flashed hard at the new ball bowlers picking some boundaries at the start of the innings. The opening pair added 54 runs within 6.3 overs to set the tone for the batters to come.
Although de Kock was on the slower side but scored 23 runs off 20 balls including two boundaries and one six before Yuzvendra Chahal ramped up his stumps from the back. Rohit; however, continued with his onslaught playing some gorgeous looking shots while Suryakumar Yadav concentrated more on rotating the strike. Meanwhile, at the 11th over mark Rohit Sharma (48) mistimed while playing an attempted pool shot to find Mohammad Siraj in the long-off region.
Pandya flourish helps Mumbai finish on a high
The wicket of Rohit Sharma brought Yuvraj Singh to the crease, who played well in the first game. The veteran continued to smash three back to back sixes off Yuzvendra Chahal before holing out to Siraj at long-off while attempting another one. Chahal kept his head high and tossed the ball to scalp the wicket of Yuvraj Singh. He soon dismissed Suryakumar Yadav to bring back Bangalore in the game and exert some pressure in the last four overs.
The Royal Challengers picked up a few wickets in the momentum but Hardik Pandya ensured the Mumbai Indians finished on a high. He remained unbeaten on 32 runs off just 14 deliveries to end the innings at 187 runs.
Here is what Yuzvendra Chahal said:
The wicket is good and you have to vary your pace. I was bowling stump-to-stump and was keeping it wider of off-stump by bowling the slider. I am used to all these things ( 3 sixes from Yuvraj). But my job is to bowl perfect ball and hope for the best. It’s a good total on the board. It’s very hard to bowl in the death because of the dew. I enjoy bowling here (at the Chinnaswamy). This is my sixth year and I am used to the conditions here.
