IPL 2019: Michael Vaughan Agrees with Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni Deserved Two Matches Suspension

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni did something which was very un MS Dhoni like when he stormed on to the field to quarrel with the on-field umpires over a no-ball decision during the match against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. It was a rare sight when MS Dhoni stormed onto the field after losing cool over a decision by on-field umpire Ulhas Gandhe when he incorrectly called a no ball.
It was during the 3rd ball of the last over of the match when the incident happened. The onfield umpire Gandhe ruled a no-ball owing to a full toss over the waist. However the leg umpire Bruce Oxenford didn’t agree and asked Gandhe to overrule his decision. The situation got Dhoni livid who was just dismissed in the previous delivery.
In an unusual case, Dhoni walked straight onto the field and started having an animated discussion with the on-field umpires. It has prompted the cricketing fraternity to come hard at MS Dhoni as former cricketers have criticised Dhoni for his actions. Former India opener Virender Sehwag also feels that the 50% penalty was pretty less and MS Dhoni deserved at least a couple of matches suspension for his gesture.
Former English skipper Michael Vaughan had also lashed out at MS Dhoni for his actions and couldn’t agree more with Virender Sehwag. “So @virendersehwag has just said on @cricbuzz that MS Dhoni should have been given a 2 game ban for storming onto the pitch .. I couldn’t agree more .. it’s exactly what should have happened to send a message to all players that what he did was totally unacceptable !! #IPL2019,” Michael Vaughan said.

However, Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming defended MSD saying that he was only trying to clarify the scenario. However, he did concede that Dhoni will be questioned for this incident for long days to come.
