IPL 2019: MS Dhoni Inspires N Jagadeesan on Fitness Grounds
Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batsman N Jagadeesan has effusively praised MS Dhoni for his athleticism. Jagadeesan has been inspired by Dhoni owing to the sheer fitness when it comes on the display in the top-flight cricket.
More often than not, Dhoni has delivered goods for Team India. So much so, his reflexes behind the stumps saw many senior being in awe of Dhoni. Leading his team on the fitness ground alongside skipper Team India Virat Kohli.
Jagadeesan in awe of MS Dhoni:
While putting in a lot of hard work, Jagadeesan maintained Dhoni has helped him in the best possible way. He stressed upon that whenever he struggles with the bat or behind the stumps, he prefers Dhoni in guiding him.
But he is always there to guide you. I will be doing my drills and, at times when Mahi bhai sees me, he takes the time out to come and give me inputs. If I have doubts in my wicketkeeping or batting I go to him,” Jagadeesan to CSK digital.
The supremely fit Dhoni has set a benchmark for youngsters across the cricketing globe. The 37-year-old is lightning quick between the wickets.
Dhoni, who is the astute thinker known which way the game is going. Owing to the tangents, Dhoni has relied on basic principles to shine on.
“He is supremely fit. You really can’t say he is 37 because of the way he moves, he is so swift around the field. And he is just so calm. He rarely speaks, but those few words lift the team,” Jagadeesan added.
Interestingly, Jagadeesa has bagged the IPL contract of INR 20 lakh in 2018 to represent the Super Kings.
The promising batsman has followed Dhoni on close quarters.
In between, Jagadeesan has received the vital tips from senior gloveman. Jagadeesan has sought tips on conditioning from Dhoni, too.
“I not only got to learn technical stuff. I also got to see how they prepare before a game mentally, how they carry themselves on and off the field,” Jagadeesan said.
Jagadeesan has expressed delighted share the dressing room with senior campaigners. He added the legends of the game has helped him to improve his game by giving him invaluable inputs from time to time.
“To be coming back to the same dressing room is something special. I’m seeking to further my experience and learn more. As a cricketer I really learnt a lot, sharing the dressing room with some of the legends of the game was an experience in itself,” Jagadeesan added.
Dhoni does not need practice at the nets:
The 23-year-old right-handed batsman Jagadeesan, who made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2016, revealed Dhoni does not don the gloves in a net session. He added the talismanic cricketer has straightaway kept wickets during the games.
“You don’t see Dhoni keep at the nets, he is someone who keeps directly in the games,” Jagadeesan said.
Concurrently, Jagadeesan is enjoining his time at CSK camp in Chennai. He’s training alongside Suresh Raina, Karn Sharma, KM Asif and Mohit Sharma.
The defending champions will kick-off their campaign on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram stadium.
