IPL 2019: MS Did What he Does Best, Gave Us a Massive Scare – Virat Kohli

The 39th match of the Indian Premier League 2019 went down to the wire. Royal Challengers Bangalore was able to post 161 runs after MS Dhoni went on to win the toss and decided to bowl first. The hosts could not get off to a good start as they lost Virat Kohli early. However, Parthiv Patel was able to score a fine half-century. Patel scored four sixes and two fours in his knock of 53 runs from 37 balls. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli heaped praise on MS Dhoni for turning the match on its head with his sublime knock.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar and Dwayne Bravo scalped two wickets each. Subsequently, CSK could not get off to a good start as they lost four wickets for only 24 runs.

Feels good to win by a small margin.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni brought his piece de resistance to the table. The talisman batsman hammered 84 runs from 48 balls with the help of five fours and seven sixes in his blistering knock. However, CSK could not cross the finishing line as they fell short by one run.

Virat Kohli said while talking in the post-match presentation, “A whole lot of emotion. We were outstanding with the ball until the 19th over mark. On the last ball, that was the last thing I would’ve expected to happen. Feels good to win a game by a small margin. MS did what he does best and he gave us all a massive scare. In the first six overs, we thought the ball wasn’t coming onto the bat that much. PP and AB started to rebuild. At the halfway mark we thought 175 would’ve been a very good total on this pitch.

“We thought we were 15 short. We thought their bowlers didn’t make us play enough on the front foot. Looking in hindsight, you could say Moeen could’ve come higher. Those things sometimes they come your way and sometimes they don’t. They showed a lot of composure playing against a side like CSK. Especially Saini. He’s come along well for the team. We have said a lot of things in the nine games. In T20 cricket, you are going to be put under the pump. It’s how well you bounce back that matters”.

It was sublime batting from MS Dhoni as he kept CSK in the hunt. Only two runs were required off the final ball and Dhoni could not get bat to the ball. Subsequently, Parthiv Patel was able to hit the bullseye and Shardul Thakur was short of his crease.

In fact, 26 runs were needed off the final over and MS Dhoni did MS Dhoni things. The talisman was at his best as he scored his runs with a strike rate of 175. It was an unbelievable knock from the master but his knock went in vain as CSK could not cross the final hurdle despite getting so close.
