Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Operations Zaheer Khan on Friday (April) stated Rajasthan Royals‘ (RR) leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal had done a fair job in the ongoing IPL 2019 season. But, at the same time, the Rohit Sharma-led side is ready for the competition, according to the veteran.

The bowling all-rounder Gopal has done well for his team while bagging eight wickets in six matches. He had played a quintessential role for Royals to win their only game of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Recently, in a  match against RCB, Gopal has bagged special figures of three for 12. On April 2nd, he went on to dismiss Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Shimron Hetmyer respectively.

In his quota of four overs, on a sluggish sort of Jaipur pitch, Gopal bowled one maiden over. He went on to concede just 12 runs.

The 25-year-old helped his team to win the game by seven wickets at home when Jos Buttler has smashed a fine half-century.

Zaheer, the former Team India fast bowler, who has a massive experience on his back, remarked the Indians’ batters are ready for the challenge.

The former left-arm paceman stated Gopal has done exceedingly well to get out best of the batters in the IPL 12. He added the hosts are in good stead to tackle any of the potential threats which royals pose.

“Shreyas Gopal for sure has seen success in the IPL, getting the best of the batsmen out. So I am sure our batsmen are very keen on and up for the challenge which RR will be bringing to the table tomorrow,” Indian’s official Twitter handle quoted Zaheer.

Zaheer’s IPL career has himself spanned over 10 years between 2008 and 2017. He has bagged 102 wickets at an average of 27.27.

Currently, Indians are sitting on the third sport with four wins in six games. Whereas, Royals slump is visible as they have won a solitary battle in six outings.

On Saturday (April 13) Indians will take on Ajinkya Rahane‘s Royals in Mumbai in the 04:00 PM game.
