It seems like the bowling resources for Mumbai Indians keeps on growing for the Indian Premier League 2019. After the emergence of Alzarri Joseph. now, they are all set to get the services of Lasith Malinga as well. Malinga completes his stint in the local tournament and joins the practice camp of Mumbai Indians.
In the Super provincial One-day tournament, Malinga played for Galle. He scalped seven wickets for 49 runs as his team beat Kandy by 156 runs. The Provincial tournament is important for Malinga as the national squad for the World Cup will be announced post the tournament.
Currently, Lasith Malinga got enough time to play a game for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He will head back to his country as soon as the match against Kings XI Punjab concludes.
Lasith Malinga will return Sri Lanka After Kings XI Punjab clash:
He started the IPL 2019 on a positive note but had to fly back to Sri Lanka to take part in the four-team event, which was termed as Sri Lanka’s World Cup trials. Malinga captained the Galle team and played a crucial part in their journey to the finals.
Interestingly, Galle is scheduled to play the final against Colombo on Thursday and according to reports, the veteran seamer will take a flight straight to Colombo after MI’s match against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday.
With West Indies paceman Joseph Alzarri making an impact on his debut, it would be interesting to see whether Malinga makes it to the final eleven. In the fixture against Chennai Super Kings, Malinga took three wickets giving away 34 runs, which helped Mumbai to a 37-run victory.
In between, the team got a jolt with the skipper Rohit Sharma suffering a hamstring injury. Most probably, he would be unavailable for the clash against Kings XI Punjab. It would be interesting to see on whom Mumbai rely on the captaincy burden.
