In one of those shocking news for Mumbai Indians, they might miss witnessing Rohit Sharma lead the team in the clash against Kings XI Punjab. The flamboyant batsman suffered a hamstring injury
The unfortunate incident took place during the practice session of Mumbai Indians ahead of their clash against Kings XI Punjab. He was seen limping off the field before the physio attending him in a flash.
He was seen collapsing clutching his right thigh when he was working on the outfield. The Mumbai Indians’ skipper was in and lay prone for some time and the support staff and team players surrounded him, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Rohit Sharma might mist 2-6 weeks:
As per reports, the injury looked like a hamstring injury, which takes at least four to six weeks to recover. This gives enough time to the batsman to recover before the World Cup.
With the ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner, and at least, half of the tournament is yet to be played, as a precautionary measure, Mumbai Indians would likely ask Rohit Sharma to stay away from the playing XI against Kings XI Punjab.
This is the second injury of a key player in the Mumbai Indians’ camp. We already came across Jasprit Bumrah suffering an injury near his eye. However, Bumrah looks fine, as he never missed a game because of that eye injury.
At the time, the franchise physio had brought the injury to the attention of Team India physio Patrick Farhart and the duo collectively managed Bumrah’s injury treatment. Fortunately, Bumrah recovered in time and did not have to miss any IPL match.
Though it is not confirmed whether the MI skipper is resting in Wednesday’s match, his team will be playing Kings XI Punjab. The previous encounter between the two teams in Mohali had ended in a comprehensive eight-wicket win for Kings XI. However, at Wankhede, it is a different ball game.
