IPL 2019: Pet to Watch Cricket at the Chinnaswamy Stadium
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have decided to make their home games pet-friendly. Meanwhile, the franchise based in Bengaluru have come up with this innovative idea of pet-lounge named ‘DogOut’ with different seating arrangement for humans and canines.
Pet as Spectators?
RCB have named this unique initiative as RCB loves Furry which will undoubtedly be great news for all the animal lovers. According to the reports, there will be no tickets on sale for the exclusive lounge. Instead, for each of the home matches, RB will pick 30 pet owners from a ‘selfie with your pet’ contest on the official team app and invited for the game with their pet. However, this year the kind of pets will be limited to dog and cats only. An RCB official while speaking to the media, admitted that this idea came up in a bid to create an opportunity for the pet parents to watch the game with their pets.
“We have created a zone exclusive for pet-parents to experience a match with their pets. Treats for pets will be available in the customised space. We will also have well-trained people to care for them,” said an RCB official.
The entry for this stand will be from Gate 21, which is generally not open to spectators. As a result, it will avoid any kind of confusion which may arise from pets being taken into the stadium. Along with the host association, the Karnataka State Cricket Association – RCB also aligned with the BCCI for the project. In an official statement, RCB said, that they are keen to include pets in their family.
“We care about all fans who are associated with the team. One such group of fans is pet parents and (pet) lovers. Pet are extension of their families and we are RCB would like to make them very much a part of the RCB family. This year onwards, RCB is thrilled to invite pet lovers to watch home matches with their pets..,” RCB wrote.
Meanwhile, RCB will begin their IPL 2019 campaign against defending champions Chennai Super Kings on March 23 at Chepauk. Virat Kohli & Co are yet to lift the trophy and will be desperate to win the title this time around.
