IPL 2019: Police Arrest 5 People for Illegal Betting
Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the finest T20 Leagues all across the world if not the best but there are several allegations surrounding the cash-rich league. Betting is a common process which is practised widely by the whole country all through the IPL. There are a few legal online betting sites where you can bet on your players. However, the broader prospect is the illegal betting which has been talk of IPL all through the previous 11 years.
We have just started the 12th edition of the tournament and already the news of illegal betting has hit the circuit. Five people were arrested in Muzzafarpur for betting on yesterday’s matches. It was revealed by the local police on Monday. The arrested who have been accused are currently interrogated by the police.
Around six mobiles and Rs, 50,000 cash were seized from the shop near Vagelna Chowk that was raided Sunday evening. Meanwhile, it was Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Capitals who began their campaign with victories in their opening clash. In the other match, it was Delhi Capitals who romped home by 37 runs owing to a masterclass by Rishabh Pant. He smashed the Mumbai Indians all around the Wankhede Stadium during his whirlwind knock of 78 of a mere 27 deliveries. His innings was studded with 7 fours and 7 gigantic sixes. It was a special knock as he murdered bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah who is the No 1 ODI bowler in the world. Even he had no answer in front of Pant.
The Delhi bowlers were up to the mark and kept chipping away with the wickets on a consistent basis. Kieron Pollard started off well by smashing a few fours and sixes. However, his wicket turned the complexion of the game. Yuvraj Singh who was making his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians batted well for a half-century. He scored 53 of 35 deliveries. Eventually, the target was way too much and Mumbai fell short by 37 runs.
