IPL 2019: RCB Captain Virat Kohli Reveals If He Will Ever Play For Any Other Franchise In IPL
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the only player in the history of IPL to play for just one franchise in each and every season.
In all 11 seasons of IPL that have been played so far, he has been the member of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Players like Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard (both Mumbai Indians), Shaun Marsh (Kings XI Punjab) have also played for just one franchise but they have had missed a season or two in their career.
In 2008, Kohli joined RCB as a rookie and in the upcoming years, he became the top-most player and was also appointed as the captain of the team in 2013.
In 2019, it will be the 12th season that Kohli will be playing in for RCB and it will be his seventh season as captain.
The star player, in the pre-season press conference, accepted that he will never play for any other franchise in the T20 league.
”All over again for RCB, one more time, and forever,” Kohli said.
In 2008, he scored 165 runs and followed up with 246 and 307 runs in next two seasons.
In 2011, the retained player amassed 557 runs and followed up with 364 and 634 runs in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
In 2014, he scored 359 runs while in 2015, Kohli scored 505 runs.
He was unstoppable in 2016 as he scored four centuries. His average of 91.08 was his best across seasons and he batted with a strike-rate of 152.03.
RCB also played the final in that season but failed to replicate their success in next two seasons, failing to qualify for the playoffs.
In 2017 and 2018, Kohli scored 308 and 530 runs respectively.
Last year, Kohli created history after being retained by RCB for Rs 17 Crore.
While the other marquee players like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma were retained for Rs 15 Crore, Kohli was paid Rs 2 Crore extra.
In 2019, RCB look a good side with a mix of experienced and young players, who have the capability do the job.
Apart from Kohli and AB DE Villiers, all eyes will be on Shimron Hetmyer as well.
The West Indies’ batsman was purchased by RCB at a high price of 4.2 Crores in the IPL auction.
