IPL 2019: Rishabh Pant Finished Brilliantly – Shreyas Iyer
Delhi Capitals were able to chase 192 runs with four balls to spare and won the match by six wickets against Rajasthan Royals, as Ajinkya Rahane’s hundred went in vain. Rishabh Pant’s blistering knock of 36-ball 78 and Shikhar Dhawan’s early blitz of 27-ball 54 helped Delhi climb to the culmination of the points table with seven wins in 11 matches. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer gave credit to Rishabh Pant for his superb knock.
Rishabh Pant was recently criticized for not playing according to match situations. However, the southpaw wicketkeeper-batsman had the license to bat like he loves as the required run-rate was over 10. Pant brought his best to the table as he took Royals bowlers to the cleaners with the help of half-a-dozen fours and four sixes in his blistering match-winning knock.
It was a superb knock from Rishabh Pant.
Earlier in the day, Ajinkya Rahane had scored a fine knock of 105 runs. Rahane was able to time the ball to perfection. However, the hosts could not provide the finishing touches to their innings as they added only 41 runs in the last five overs. Furthermore, Steven Smith also scored a fine fifty.
Shreyas Iyer said while talking to the broadcasters in the post-match presentation, “When we play away from home wickets are so good luck and it is perfect for our batters. Shikhar is doing a great job in the powerplay. We are unaware of how the wicket is going to play at our home and we are being outplayed at home. The wicket was a belter and Rahane batted brilliantly. Our bowlers contained well to restrict Royals. Ricky tells us that batsman who gets the start should bat for a long time. Rishabh finished brilliantly”.
It was a fine knock from Rishabh Pant as he batted at the top of his game. Delhi Capitals has impressed with their performances in the ongoing season. Delhi will now enjoy a five-day break now before they will return back to action against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 28th April.
